University of Washington Math Hour Olympiad exams

The University of Washington Math Hour Olympiad is an annual contest for middle-schoolers in which they present mathematical proofs to fun problems orally before a panel of supportive judges. The exam is three hours long.

Each student is given a page with 5 questions. When they believe they have an answer for a question they raise their hand and are assigned a team of two judges who listen to their explanation and provide constructive feedback. If the judges decide the answer is incomplete or incorrect, the student is permitted more chances to argue their solution again after returning to their seat to think about it further. If the student answers three questions correctly they are given a second page containing two harder questions.

Students in the 6th and 7th grade are given one set of questions, 8th through 10th another. Often one or two questions overlap.
